Why I Rebranded to Megan Sweeting Photo + Video

TL;DR

Same vibrant, people-first photos you know me for, now with optional video add-ons from a trusted team so your day is told as one cohesive story. And a name that welcomes everyone to the party.

Weddings aren’t beige. They’re bright, bold, and fun.

If you’ve ever landed on a wedding site and felt the “washed-out romance” vibe… hard pass. Around here, joy is loud, color is celebrated, and the dance floor is sacred. That’s the energy I want you to feel the second you hit my site.

Two wedding photography business logos: "Bourbon Brides" with a yellow heart and underline, and "Megan Sweeting Photo + Video" with three yellow star accents, reflecting Megan Sweeting’s creative approach to both photo and video.

Why now?

I’ve wanted to offer video for a while so couples could get one team, one timeline, one cohesive story. I finally found videographers I trust to come on board and bring that vision to life.

At the same time, I needed a name that reflects my beliefs. When I started in 2014, Bourbon & Brides sounded cute (I love alliteration), but as I grew into a vocal LGBTQ+ ally, the gendered language didn’t feel right. I was nervous about losing the recognition I’d built over a decade, but adding video gave me the perfect moment to do the right thing and the smart thing. So now it’s Megan Sweeting Photo + Video – inclusive, clear, and 100% me.

What wasn’t working before

  • The old name used non-inclusive language. That’s not my brand and not my values.

The visual shift (and what I kept)

  • Color & vibe: A hit of sunny yellow because weddings should feel bright, warm, and joyful.
  • Typography: Cleaner layouts + a rounded, retro-leaning font to turn up the fun.
  • What’s gone: Anything that felt cliché or too precious.
  • What stayed: The straightforward UX and clean layouts you loved.

Brand words I’m claiming: Authentic. Fun. Bold.

Services: what’s new vs. what’s the same

  • New: Photo + Video packages that correlate, so your day is covered seamlessly by one production team.
  • Same: Everything else, including my approach, turnaround expectations, albums/add-ons and my people-first priority.

Experience: From inquiry to delivery, it feels the same, just with the option to add video without juggling multiple vendors.

My philosophy (aka why my couples book me)

I shoot the moments you’ll care about in 40 years not what will get me published. You won’t find me missing a spontaneous, important moment because I’m in another room styling wedding shoes. Expect a tight balance of real, unposed moments and creative frames that still feel like you.

More of: Couples who want an inclusive, fun celebration.

Less of: Stuffy timelines with no room for joy, staged “perfect for Instagram” moments, and anything that is non-inclusive.

Inclusivity isn’t a footnote – it’s a pillar

I don’t “accommodate” or “accept” LGBTQ+ couples; I celebrate them, along with every couple I capture. There’s no “LGBTQ vs. normal” here. Every couple gets the same enthusiasm, respect, and space to be themselves. Full stop.

FAQs (let’s clear these up)

Is this a price hike?

Nope. Photo packages are still available as-is. Video is an optional add-on.

Did your editing change?

No. Still vibrant, true-to-color, contrasty, with rich blacks, timeless and alive.

Are you still doing everything you did before?

Yes, plus coordinated video options when you want them.

Real talk: what this rebrand taught me

I let go of the fear of losing ground. Values matter more than name recognition. Aligning your brand with what you believe is the most on-brand move you can make. I want my brand to reflect my beliefs, and in a divisive time, I’m choosing inclusion on purpose.

What this means for you

One team. One plan. A wedding story that feels like your party, from start to finish.
